Press Releases in May 2005
May 26, 2005 Statement of Dr.Subramanian Swamy, President of the Janata Party The Manmohan Singh Government deserves to be condemned by all patriotic Indians for the perfidy in Nepal that has been exposed in the media in the recent days. Since the Government has not denied the facts published, they must be taken as true. It is now established that the Nepal terrorist leader Babu Ram Bhattarai has been hiding in Delhi with the connivance of the Government of India. Mr.Bhattarai is a terrorist wanted for crimes in Nepal, for which the Interpol having satisfied itself of his terrorist status has issued a Red Corner Alert Notice worldwide for his capture. This Indian Government is a signatory to the Interpol, and has to comply with this Notice. How can the Government of India claiming worldwide that it is fighting terrorism and pointing fingers at the Governments like Pakistan as abetting terrorism, permit itself to provide a haven and assistance to terrorists who seek to undermine India’s culturally most proximate country, namely, the Kingdom of Nepal? If Mr.Manmohan Singh was unaware that this has been done behind his back, then he must atone for it by resigning as Prime Minister of India. He is unfit then to be one. If the Prime Minister is a willing party to this anti national step, then it is all the more reason that the nation demand his resignation since that is a betrayal of national interest. The UPA since coming to power has already heavily compromised on India’s anti-terrorist stance by capitulating to the PWG in Andhra, and aiding and abetting the AIADMK Government in Tamil Nadu in giving a free run to the LTTE as had happened during the 1989-91 period. Hence national integrity is in danger from the UPA Government and all patriotic forces must come together to topple this Government and provide an alternative. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) May 20, 2005 Press Release 1. The one year in office of the UPA Government has been a monumental failure in the Indian economy which has gone into a tail spin towards recession and disaster. The following four indicators are ominous: (a) The targeted growth rate of GDP for 2005-06 has been officially lowered to 7.5%, but the likely achievement is below 7 percent, with over sixty five percent of the contribution to growth from the services sector. The Indian economy cannot reduce the backlog of 5 crore unemployed unless the growth rate is more than 8 percent per year, and that at least fifty percent of the contribution to growth comes from the manufacturing sector. (b) However, the industrial production has collapsed from a 10.4 percent last October growth rate to 4.9 percent rate in February. And again because of the 2005-06 inane Union Budget, the growth rate in industry is unlikely to rise this year and revive. (c) The resources raised in the primary capital market for investment has also fallen from Rs.21,000 crores in March 2004 to less than Rs.11,000 crores last month. In fact most distressing about this decline is that the rate of national investment has fallen as a consequence. (d) The foreign reserves which were going up year after year has started to decline at the rate of a $1 billion a month since January this year. Moreover, the growth of exports which was growing at 34 percent per year in the first three quarters of this year has slumped to 13 percent rate last two months. Thus current account deficit in the balance of payments has gone up six fold in one year to $10.4 billion. 2. Moreover the whole world today is confused about what the Government’s economic policy and direction. No wonder foreign direct investment has fallen to a trickle. There are so many discordant voices in the UPA and so many Ministers contradicting each other, that investment is likely to further dry up. The Prime Minister may have a Ph.D in economics, but his poor political clout has made him into a faded lonely headmaster whose students (read Ministers) have all gone away on a Roman holiday. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 16.05.2005 PRESS RELEASE The results of the Kanchipuram and Gummudipoondi Assembly by -elections in which the ruling AIADMK candidates were victorious, is no surprise to me, since the by -election trend all over the country is becoming anti-UPA [of which the DMK is a constituent]. Unless there is a third front of non-Dravidian Movement parties to challenge the AIADMK in the general elections next year, or the UPA government at the Centre falls, the by-election trend will continue into 2006. One year UPA rule has been the most corrupt since 1947, and the Prime Minister's post has been devalued as never before since 1857. Moreover, an inane Union Budget has accelerated inflation, lowered the GDP growth, and for the first time in a decade substantially depleted foreign exchange reserves. But the TN CM should recognise that the much lower margin of victory in Kanchipuram is due to the protest vote against the foisting of bogus cases on the Kanchi Mutt Shankaracharyas and the Mutt officials. Hence I demand that all the cases be withdrawn forthwith. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 15.05.2005 PRESS RELEASE The enclosed letter from the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mr.Jaswant Singh makes clear that the Russian Government had informed him, when he was External Affairs Minister, that they indeed were willing to cooperate on determining the veracity of my documents on KGB financing of Ms.Sonia Gandhi, if the R&AW was asked to pursue the matter further in Moscow. This fact was with held from the Delhi High Court and a false averment of non-cooperation was made by the CBI when my PIL was argued before the Court last month. I therefore intend next week to submit a complaint of perjury and contempt of court against the CBI for filing false affidavit in the Delhi High Court in my PIL on KGB financing of Ms.Sonia Gandhi and her Italian family. In a counter affidavit filed by the CBI in my PIL, the agency had falsely stated on oath that the Russian authorities were not cooperating with the Government of India, and hence my charges were not capable of being investigated. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 14.05.2005 PRESS RELEASE The Government of India through its spokesperson must condemn the violent demonstrations launched by pro-Taliban forces in Afghanisation and Pakistan against the alleged defiling and dishonouring of the Holy Koran by a US soldier in Guantanamo Bay prison camps. No government including the US can be held responsible for the acts of every soldier of the Army evene if such a deplorable, incidents do take place. It should be recalled that the Taliban Government officially used guns to willfully blast the ancient and world’s tallest statue of Buddha in Bamian, Afghanisation in year 2000, hurting the sentiments of more than 1 billion Hindus and Buddhists in world. However, no violent demonstrations were launched by Hindu and Buddhists communities. The Taliban government however got its come-uppance in October 2001, when US invaded Afghanisation and tappled the Taliban regime. Hence if God’s revealed message in a holy book is dishonoured by individuals, the prayers not violence is the answer. It is time that Islamic Fundamentalists learn the Gandhian message that violence begets more violence, and in the end agents of violence will be the losers. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 10.05.2005 STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY MADE IN KANCHEEPURAM While supporting the Hindu Mahasabha candidate K.Chidambaram Advocate in the Assembly By-Election 1. The Janata Party is supporting the Hindu Mahasabha candidate in this by-election to commence the process of consolidating the patriotic Tamil voters who are shocked by the recent assault on the Hindu foundation of the nation by the AIADMK led state Government which is committing atrocities and illegalities on the Kanchi Mutt and the two Shankaracharya at the behest and orders of UPA Chairperson Ms.Sonia Gandhi. I demand the immediate withdrawal of all these bogus cases, and that Ms.Jayalalitha apologize for her anti-Hindu actions, and do prayaaschit for it by resigning from the Chief Ministership. 2. The Janata Party also condemns the DMK and Congress Party MPs and MLAs of the state for keeping silent on this issue and in fact defacto supporting the illegal acts of the Tamil Nadu Government. 3. Hence the patriotic voters in Kancheepuram should teach both the DPA and AIADMK by rejecting them on May 14th, the day of polling. 4. The DMK and ADMK have led the state government alternately for the last 40 years, and economically ruined the state. Tamil Nadu has become India’s No.1 state in the number of HIV positive cases, lowest productivity of workers and a bankrupt agriculture. The State MPs enjoy no respect in New Delhi, and have failed to get the Sethusamudaram project sanctioned or solve the Cauvery problem solved, and get implemented any other project of the state. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 08.05.2005 PRESS RELEASE Today May 8th is the sixtieth anniversary is V.E day when Allied troops in a ‘grand alliance’ defeated the fascist forces of Hilter led Germany & Mussolini led Italy. Now the defeated fascist forces have re-appeared in the world re-incarnated as terrorist organizations. Hence, today is the day to pledge to continue the fight for democracy and freedom. I particularly urge the UPA Chairperson Ms.Sonia Gandhi to publicly apologize to the people on behalf of her father Stefano Maino who was a soldier in Hitler’s Nazi Army and her mother Ms.Paola Maino who was an active worker of Mussolini’s Fascist party. Ms.Gandhi should publicly declare that she is not a member of the secret underground Nazi and fascist organizations in Europe or Latin America. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY MADE IN CHENNAI ON 07.05.2005 1. The nation has a right to know why Ms.Sonia Gandhi kept secret her real name (Ms.Antonia Maino Gandhi) and true place of birth (Luciana not Orbassano). Why were these two true details kept hidden from the Indian people? Even today her foreign property, Italian passport and Swiss bank accounts are operated in the name of Antonia Maino. 2. In fact, everything about Ms.Sonia Gandhi is false: her name, place of birth, her educational qualifications, and her widowhood, and her sacrifice of the PM’s post. 3. Now it turns out that her Indian citizenship also has been obtained on misrepresentation as the enclosed Photostat of her application shows. Ms.Sonia Gandhi has never renounced according to Italian law, her Italian citizenship and hence her Indian citizenship has to be cancelled according to Section 10 of the Citizenship Act (1955). I shall be approaching the Delhi High Court soon on this matter and seek a direction to Home Ministry to initiate the proceeding for cancellation of her citizenship of India. 4. This evening I shall be going to Kolkatta to address tomorrow a Convention to be held by a new Front set up by Kolkatta Mayor & MLA Mr.Subrata Mukherjee. I shall also go to Kancheepuram to address a meeting in support of Hindu Mahasabha candidate in the Assembly by election. 5. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalitha has been rebuffed by the Madras High Court in Goondas Act atrocity against Kanchi Mutt Manager Mr.Sundaresa Iyer and 10 others. The fit case for imprisonment under the Goondas Act is the entire Jayalalitha state Cabinet which has been habitually engaged in breaking the new and gross abuse of power. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY)
